A couple of weeks ago I was talking to a Austin-based startup founder on Skype. We talked about oDesk, Elance and the new UpWork service. I made the prediction UpWork would become the eventual platform and that we would see the exit of Elance just like oDesk. Based on the following email I just received it looks like I nailed it:
But what’s the implication or motivation? I was expecting more from the article. I was on odesk then it turned into upwork. So I use upwork now.
I think their motivation is to be a single, premier platform. I personally like the move. I had much greater success on oDesk. I was upset though to losing my top 4 organic Google ranking with my oDesk profile.
