I started building websites the hard, self-taught way in 1999 at the age of 15. In those days we didn’t have Firefox, just (cringe) Internet Explorer 5. Fast forward to 2006 I became ever more intrigued by programming languages, taking again the route of most resistance just like I had done before. I really think this self-taught approach has helped my career immensely. Sometimes you have to dig deep to find the problem or to code the solution that makes things that much easier.
Over the past 8 years I’ve had a blast programming applications. My use of frameworks have evolved, starting with Codeigniter, moving to CakePHP, getting commercial experience with Zend Framework, and programming everything the fun way with Laravel. In 2009 I founded RotorSpace, the first social network for helicopter aviation professionals and enthusiasts. RotorSpace was acquired by Vertical Magazine (MHM Publishing) who later sold the site to SkyChattr. My most recent entrepreneurial venture is RadioRedial.com, a service that helps give you the competitive advantage when it comes to radio call-in contests. So if you’re wanting to increase your odds of winning tickets (or anything else they’re giving away) on the radio then checkout Radio Redial…it’s pretty cool 😉
I also own and operate Illuminate Software.
As for my personal life I’m loved and supported by my wonderful wife Amber, and my kids, math wiz Christopher, artistic Aurora, MMA Abby, and diva Hannah-Grace. We’re a big, young family so there is never a dull moment. Did I mention we have 4 dogs too?
Anyways, thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.
